Duncan became an Aussie!
I wasn’t aware it was an option when he was born, but thanks to Groogle pointing out that Duncan was a dual citizen by virtue of my citizenship, and all I had to do was some paperwork (which may or may not be a simple matter). We filed the papers around the beginning of January, and as of the 24th Duncan is officially a citizen of both the United States and Australia.
We
just received the papers in the mail yesterday, so today we tried to get
him to pose with a photocopy of the certificate (because he’s almost 2,
and putting an actual citizenship certificate in the hands of an
almost-2-year-old just didn’t seem like a good idea), but we’ll have to
wait and see how they turned out. Putting a piece of paper in his hands
rekindled his apparent love of paper-scrunching, so I’m not sure if any
of the pictures are going to be workable.
