Dentist and Ballarat

We had to wake up bright and early this morning, to be gone by about 6:30am to get to Maryborough by 9am for Sabriena’s penultimate dental appointment. We ended up getting there far earlier, about 20 minutes too early… but while I’d miss that sleep on the way home, better early than late I suppose. I left Sabriena at her dentist to get a temporary cap put on her root canal (the permanent one still forthcoming) and took Duncan out to Mum and Dad’s for a visit.

After picking Sabriena up, we went to Mum and Dad’s local post office, the lady who operates it being one of very few people who’s known us long enough to satisfy the occupation requirements for a declaration of identity, so that Sabriena can apply to be naturalized. I have to wonder why people from a laundry list of occupations, not all of which are by necessity guaranteed to be trustworthy, are okay to make such a declaration… what if we hadn’t known our postie for over a year?

Our backup plan was asking Duncan’s teacher nicely after school starts up again, but again - what if that weren’t an option? It just seems a rather silly requirement to have.
