The mouse wheel on my Microsoft "Comfort Optical Mouse 3000" is giving up and irritating the piss out of me, so while we were in Ballarat today waiting for the van to get it's windscreen replaced, I picked up a new mouse. My friend Neil is batshit about SteelSeries stuff, and it was that, a Razer, or a Logitech. I've always had a soft spot for Logitech's gear, but the feeling of them in my hand was less than stellar. The Razer didn't really feel that great at all, and I've heard they break if you sneeze on them, so I decided to give the SteelSeries a go.

Plugged it into my laptop, and on the higher (1600) CPI setting it feels fantastic. It's big enough for my overly-large man-hands, it's not a light piece of shit feeling thing like my MS mouse was and the grip stuff on the sides is really nice.

The software though, which took three tries and then using Axel to download, is garbage. No error message, it just hangs on "loading" - I finally figured out I had to remove both the drivers for the MS mouse, and the drivers for my laptop's touchpad to get the software to function.

Pretty aggravating, really.
