Reorganizing the Office

OfficeSince I work from home, I spend a lot of time in my office… it stands to reason I should enjoy the space, right? A couple months back I bought a new-to-me desk, and it pretty well dominated the room with how I had it set up. Then this weekend, between the rack, the Neo Geo, and the fact Sabriena got sick of me leaving boxes of my stuff out in the living room and made me put them in the office, the place was starting to feel fairly claustrophobic.

So first step I took everything out of the closet and organized it, such that I could fit all of the boxes in there and still get to most of what I would want to get to on a regular basis. I then decided to try positioning the desk in front of the closet, since I generally speaking don’t need to get in there much, so if it’s a pain in the arse every couple of months it’s not that big of a deal. It’s quite a tight fit between leaving enough room for the door to be opened, and enough room for the curtains to activate, but it works.

Doing that and spinning the rack around 90 degrees opened the room up a heap, I have the Neo Geo in the adjacent corner to the one the rack is in, and basically the entire centre of the room is empty. It’s great! If I end up needing the air conditioner again (I’m really hoping I don’t), there’s room next to the Neo Geo if I turn it slightly, and it’ll be right by the end of the window that opens, unlike my previous office where the only place for the AC pipes to go was where my chair needed to be.

I still have some stuff that I need to organize but I’m a lot happier now.
