Duncan up bright and early this morning to have breakfast and then play with the robot. I tried for a few moments to get him to understand the LabVIEW NXT programming environment, but his mind was elsewhere.
Off to play with it for an hour or so before school, but the motors started getting a bit slow very quickly. A webpage I found suggests that NXT battery life is almost universally terrible, it seems the heavy servo motors draw quite a bit and I'm now not entirely convinced that Bluetooth was the biggest factor in the battery drain.
I may have to look into fashioning a mains adaptor for it, and only putting batteries in it when we're done experimenting and Duncan wants to play around the house. 6 AA batteries in a single day of playing is a bit steep.
