I've been bitten again by the BMX bug for months, and finally after sitting at home for the fourth or fifth consecutive week I decided to do something about it. I went and bought a used bike so I can ride around with my son - we head out to skateparks when they're empty and have some fun.
This morning, Sabriena and I went on a 4km run up around the dirt tracks near home, our first time venturing out from the safety of the back paddocks. It was great, but the changes in elevation were a real pain in the legs. But after coming home and relaxing for a half hour I was still bitten by the bug to get out and do something, so we went and visited the skatepark in Maryborough, VIC. Duncan's driven by this thing many a time and really wanted to go and finally his dream came true.
I'm having serious confidence issues - this bike is not my bike, in fact it weighs about a quarter of what my Hoffman does, and just feels completely different (it's sized for me correctly, for starters). Add that to the fact that you can't stop doing something for the better part of a decade and then start up again and expect to be amazing, and I feel like a fat idiot.
But oh man, am I sore tonight.
