A while back we bought a little Oldsmobile, because it would be easier on gas than driving everywhere in our Suburban. That’s all well and good, but, well… The stereo sucks.
The speakers are all shot to hell (I have to replace them), and it’s only got a radio and a cassette player. Sabriena bought one of those tape adapters so she could plug her iPod in, and it works okay but sometimes the tape player keeps wanting to stop and go back the other way.
I haven’t had to mess with anything like this in ages, but it’s most likely the drive belt for the cassette player. I’m hoping it’ll “fix itself” at least well enough to play the damn iPod. I used to have a bunch of belts from back when I used to help Sabriena’s grandpa fixing DVD players, VCRs, Camcorders and suchlike. The belts stretch, so we had a big bag of them and we’d just switch it out for one that was a teeny bit tighter and the unit would start working fine.
Well, I don’t have that big ol’ bag of belts, and it’s so much work getting the stereo out and taking it apart that if I’m going to take my dash apart I might as well just put an aftermarket head unit in so we don’t have to have that crappy adaptor.
