I can’t help it, I get addicted to RPGs.
Because of my complete inability to play in moderation, I’ve steered clear from even installing MapleStory to say hi to friends – much to their disdain. I tried to like World of Warcraft, I really did – I just can’t seem to get into it for very long, I’ll play for a few hours feverishly then get sick of it.
Recently, my wife torrented Diablo 2 (because our CDs are all scratched to hell) so I decided to play that with her. I learned that because we own it legitimately, we can now put the CD keys into the new fangled Battle.net and it will give you a new “digital key” – a 26 character code used to install versions of Blizzard games downloadable directly via Battle.net, which do not require CDs. Hooray!
Oh, proof I’m not a pirate:

Anyway, what’s the downside? The downside is it’s a friggin’ RPG. That means I play it for too long. How long? Let’s put it this way, my last serious stint of Playing Diablo 2, I finished the entire “Normal” campaign in one sitting. I sat at the game so damn long I needed eye creams and it’s possible I might have needed glasses if I’d kept it up.
So I’ve been trying to be sensible about it, but as always, moderation feels like more of an enemy than a friend.
