CoD4 for PS3 == realm of bad sports

I’ve never in my life ran into as many bad sports as I have in my time on CoD4. Perhaps it’s because I have the voice chat off on TF2, but I don’t seem to notice it that much on there – CoD4 on the other hand, jesus christ. It’s like there’s a hidden Perk 4 that’s equipped with “Crybaby” for 80% of the population.

Like last night, there was this kid, Josh931 or some shit. First of all, he talked too much.. he barely stopped for breath – but I can get over that. Twice in a row on “Ambush”, I’d throw a grenade and he’d run right by me and get team-killed by the grenade. The words “grenade out” are yelled for a reason, genius.

The third time, I didn’t see where he was, but I threw a grenade to an area illuminated with the other team and managed to ‘nade him in the process as well. I wish I could say it was on purpose, cuz it was a pretty long bomb. No, I was just having a terrible time at that moment and he managed to get unlucky along with me.

So he starts running his mouth (I don’t have my mic hooked up specifically for ignoring assholes like this), and then griefing me. Shooting me in the leg with a pistol and shit… just in general being an asshole. Then, a couple minutes later I shoot someone who’s about to knife him in the back.

Spec’ing him while I was dead, he’s actually not too terrible at the game – he has good reactions and everything, but he doesn’t out-score me by much. I think if he’d shut the fuck up and concentrate on playing instead of talking constantly he’d probably play a lot better, but I just couldn’t get over the quantity of whining when things weren’t going his way.

… and he’s not alone in that respect. Every time someone dies on that game it seems like they have to immediately jump on the mic and talk about how they got boned, or make up an excuse for why they got killed, or talk shit, or something negative. If you listened to the mic chat it sounds like a bunch of people who are forced to play, not like people who are actually having fun.

I’m really starting to think I’m weird in that I’m one of a very small group of people who actually plays video games for entertainment.
